Time for a new sports car - but what?
Discussion
The time has come to finally bid my trusty old Porsche 993 a fond farewell - she's looking and feeling a little tired now at 15 years old and over 200,000 miles.
Financially speaking things have been good over the last couple of years, so I think that it's time to treat myself to something new.
I only like buying my cars new or very nearly new - I prefer to know the history of my cars and I tend to keep them for many years (I bought the 993 new as the first owner).
My original idea was to get a 997 GTS, but I didn't really 'click' with the car to be honest. It didn't light my fire despite being a very accomplished machine. The Porsche salesman was pushing the new 991, but a Carrera S with some options was over £90,000!
I had a look at an Evora S earlier today and the fit and finish were shocking for a £30k car let alone a £60+k one.
What do you think?

Ginetta G60? Probably a bit more "sports car" than the 911.
Aston V8V? Probably a bit less "sports car" than the 911.
I guess the Italian option will be Maserati rather than Ferrari/Lambo at your budget.
You could get a very nice Corvette for 911 money I guess.
Some good ideas there, thanks.Aston V8V? Probably a bit less "sports car" than the 911.

I've not heard of the Ginetta, I'll look into that.

A Corvette can have loads of character, and based on your history I reckon there a safer choice than a lotus of your gonna do mega miles again and keep it for a long time.
Or what about a nicely specced Caymsn S?
Actually I don't do as nearly as many miles any more - that was when I had a 'proper' job a few years back to supplement my income. I work from home now, but we do a good few miles a year for pleasure (trips to the continent etc).Or what about a nicely specced Caymsn S?
I did look at a Cayman R...I quite liked that, but it didn't seem very 'special' after the 993.

Nasty colour (the one i'n the ad, however the blue looks great) but otherwise I like a lot - I gather the Grand Sport is a halfway house between the regular models and the hardcore Z versions. Coupe or Cab options, reliable, great noise?
Excuse giant pic

Worth a look, certainly. Thanks.

I've never really considered a US car before.
