The A1 is possibly the most god awful looking car in Audis rather bland model line up at the moment

Why anyone would blow 30k on one baffles me

Should be £23k tops. Not worth £30k IMO. Looks OK but nothing special. smile

Some people do buy their cars for things other than looks.

Personally, I think Audi are doing the best job of the German big three on the styling front at the moment, but that's not saying a great deal - they're all pretty poor.

It does seem quite a lot of money, though.

I would definitely be in the market to buy one of these.

Looks great and with quattro to boot!

Its easy to spend 30k on an A1 already, if its 30k base price it will probably need another 4-5k of options to get a decent spec.

As long as there are people naive enough to pay it you can't blame them for doing it

I don't really see why it's naive. If it really comes out as a 280bhp supermini, it has no real competition so if that's what people are after, it's their only option.

That's Cooper S money. This thing has substantially more power, 4WD, and "the badge"

Audi are never going to sell these at £23k.
Oh I know that.

I just don't think it worth £30k. To me it should be VW Polo GTI/Cooper S money. yes

At 30k you could get Megane RS , Focus RS (well I know they don't make them now), Insignia VXR etc etc.

All of which I would have before a small Audi hatch.

It's a desirable package, and will sell well.

Mermaid has hit the nail on the head; Audi would be absolutely insane to try and compete with themselves.

If you have Polo GTI money then buy a bloody Polo GTI laugh

Audi's sales figures imply that they're a little bit better at pitching products than the majority of posters on here wink

I really can't see it having 280bhp. Probably more like 230, and selling for £27-28k. I can't see a market for £30k+ Audi A1's. Though to be fair I can't see why anyone would by an A1, so what do I know.

Why are we discussing whether a car, whose specs havnt been formally announced yet, is good money?
What other 280bhp small hatches can you get?

I could see this being like the RS3

Very limited numbers...a 'test' for there future S/RS models, and wayyyy over priced once you started ticking a few boxes. I'd be very suprised if it would be less than £30k. They may build it- but you may never see one on the road!

Doesn't look too bad, but it will be overpriced. It's an Audi with an RS badge, overpriced is what it does best.
