Good luck with your impending NIPs for speeding.
SPECS covered section of the A14. They came up behind at warp speed, I move over, they roar off only to slam on the brakes for the next camera then off again and repeat.
I'm assuming they're not illegals or on dodgy plates otherwise why bother braking for the cameras?
Perhaps they know something?

I share your sentiment about people who thunder through these sections of roadworks (when there's some poor bugger working a few feet away from the traffic and the only protection they have from stray cars is a few plastic cones it's worth slowing down a bit!) but my frustration is that I'm yet to hear of anyone who has been prosecuted as a result of average speed cameras.
Anyone on here know of someone who has been prosecuted by average speed cameras?

This wasn't roadworks but the permanent average speed section.

When my client went on his speed awareness course a few weeks ago, he reported that 7 of 21 people there were caught by average speed cameras.

If you're confident that they're operating to the ACPO recommended threshold of 10% plus 2mph, then it's perfectly possible to pass through a SPECS 50mph area at a GPS-verified 56mph and be absolutely fine. This will seem quite quick to anyone at an indicated 50mph, which could well be an actual 45mph.

Also, given the average nature of it you could pass the first camera at 62, slowing consistently until passing the next camera at 50. You'd end up with around a 56mph average, but will overtake a lot of people on the way.

Of course, this assumes it's safe to do these speeds - not always the case.

This is what a lot of HGVs do - they just carry on through at their limited max speed of 90KPH which is 56MPH. It makes it a right pain for people in cars who are sticking to indicated low 50's.

These were definitely closer to 100 than 50, so not much margin for speedo error.
