Evening all,

I'm looking to spray my car a decent matt colour - probably Nato green.

Does anyone know a good source for rattle cans?

Halfrauds is a bit pricey.

Car paint supply shops are ideal. They supply to the trade but you can walk in there and pay their retail price no probs. With rattle-cans the finish will be a bit rubbish, well I've done it about a million times and it's never come out good, always has to be rubbed down. So on that basis why not use a foam roller and liquid paint from the car paint shop? If you want it shiney it would have to be flatted back and polished no matter whether you use rattle cans or a roller. The difference is it would cost a lot less to use a smooth foam roller.

Thanks for that.

I assumed (probably wrongly!) that a roller would give a crap finish.

This I class as ideal:

I really shouldn't like that MX-5, yet even the wonky headlight is kinda endearing.

I think that's the #1 rule - never go near matte/silk paint with polish.

Another option is a vinyl wrap.

The Focus RS 500 has one.. matt black.

Probably a lot more expensive than some paint though.
