Looking at one to carry my dogs about in but there are none near to where I live so was hoping someone who either owns or has driven one could give me their thoughts.

Thanks

Lucky

Drove one for a few miles last year, that was enough, truly terrible car, zero build quality, awful ergonomics, didn't drive too well and 13mpg

I'd rather have a transit van, honestly

That bad frown I wasn't expecting great build quality but was hoping it might be a little more fun than the myriad of diesels.

I've not been in one, but I honestly can't believe any of this. Have you ever been in a 4x4 or SUV before?

A bit of a quick read up and it's built on the Grand Cherokee platform, but is a bigger 7 seat option with a 2 tier roof. The G Cherokee always gets positive reviews, do I don't know how this wouldn't, being built on the same platform and using the same engines.

I've never had an issue with Jeep build quality either. I suspect the earlier poster was comparing a £30k vehicle to a £50k vehicle and tapping the dash with a small mallet to see how soft it was.

I'm sure you can't, it's impossible for the Americans to make a bad vehicle. They're the top of the line, best engineered, best built cars on the road, making the German built cars look like scrap on wheels.

Sarcasm mode off.

In a crash you'd surely be well crushed or is this just photoshop trickery...!

I did read that but it seems very few made it over here with the Hemi engine. There are two G Cherokee SRT's for sale, crazy car!
There are no 5.7 Commanders or G Cherokee's withing 100miles of me that are for sale so going to test drive one on the off chance is a no no.
Does anyone own one near Swindon way?

To the posters above, lets not let Pistonheads degrade into petty personal insults shall we?

Not driven one, but the road tests were all reasonably complimentary when they came out, albeit that they mentioned the engines were thirsty and the rearmost seats are only suitable for v.small people. Looking at the photos on something like Parkers, the load floor does look quite high, so I hope your dogs are athletic.

My dad owns one, he has had it from new & IIRC it's now getting close to 80,000 miles on the clock. In terms of build quality, yes the plastics are hard not soft touch but it is extremely well screwed together with no rattles or loose trim. The seats are great for long distances and as long as you don't treat it like a sports car it drives well.

Apart from routine servicing and tyres the only thing I know that he has had to replace has been the windscreen.

If it's sarcasm doesn't it need to be funny? confused

And as a sensible answer to help the OP.

-Is there really a BAD car on sale today in the UK? I suspect the very vast majority are all highly capable and built well enough too.

Jeep interiors remind me of the fit and finish of Little Tykes plastic products.

How so? Do you tap them?

Not trying to be funny, but I seriously don't see the fascination with the soft touch feel of panels you never touch.

From 18 inches away they usually all look the same too.

Looks like quite a nice place to sit to me.

A photo of a Jeep interior is fine. Sitting in a Jeep is not.
