I have just come back after having a pollon filter changed. £130 plus £8 to bin the paper filter grumpy, but thats not the problem.

They have also cleaned and oiled the sunroof guide rails. I have had the car for a few years now, I have never noticed it has a sunroof! laugh

Also my spare tyre, a bridgestone RE040 is slightly worn and is not far off needing changing. That really is amazing because i have never used it! The reason i have never used it is because it doesn't have one, there isn't even a place for one. rofl

Is this some sort of equal opportunities thing? Did Stevie Wonder just service my car?

See this is fraud, but most people would brush it off or not go back to the garage again.

Personally I'd like to see charges brought and the dealership shamed in the press. There is no excuse to rip people off like this.

Check the Reg number on the invoice, did you by chance get the wrong one.
If not then thats got to be a serious call to the Manager, sounds to me as if someone needs a change of job.

yes

if they did indeed mean your car, that's shocking and something must be done.

hehe i like.

just make sure 100% there was no mix up first. if, indeed, they were actually trying it on then do the above.

i find it hard to believe they were trying it on if they stated the sunroof on the invoice....as your car doesn't have one. it's more than likely a mix up.

I actually can't say it's more than likely a mix-up.. I can completely believe it.. But you must check, and if the registration on your invoice matches your car, then there's no excuse and the above stages of people to contact about it sounds about right.

It is fraud, just as garages saying "ooh we can't let you drive home on those brakes, they're not safe" when they are is fraud. Both lead to taking money by deception. But this one really is a piss-take!

On the top of the invoice is the corect registration and vin number.

I have had a word with the service guy, i'm not going to take it any further. But its the last nail in the cars coffin, its a nice car and reliable but it just so boring to drive.

Sorry for the slow reply. Not long after I posted, I set fire to my arm.

Its been one of those days frown

Well it wasn't really a rant, I just thought you might find it funny.

mmm - I had this with Ford...

Among other items "Rear windscreen wiper split, needs replacing"...

on a Mondeo saloon, with no rear wiper.

Sounds about right.

24k service: "the front pads have only got about 5k miles left on them"
18k miles of progress making motoring later, pad warning light came on. Swapped out at 42k with a good few mm left.

Strange with our local Honda dealer our non existent spare tyre had loads of tread left.

And the fuel filter comes from the factory covered in dirt

I had an inclination from your first post that the car might have been a Z4, then you posted this which confirmed my suspicions.

No its a 650i.
I did have a z4 once, it was more interesting than the 650i.

What an anti-climax frown

I was looking forward to hearing about their excuses how Mr. Wonder had serviced the car and what recompense they were willing to offer .....

Is that just for the pollen filter? If so that's bad enough in the first place...

yes

I once put my 325i in for an Oil Service. A few hours later BMW called me and stated that my brakes were dangerous and i required disk and pads immediatly. I kindly informed the lady on the phone that i was a time served engineer and both disk and pads had been replaced within the last 4 months and were perfectly fine. There was a long akward pause on the phone. laugh
