If Dick Dastardly Drove A Lamborghini...

...this might be it. (Or just another dragster crash video)

OK, 'If Dick Dastardly drove a Lamborghini' isn't the most promising headline for a grown-up motoring website, but then this isn't a very grown-up video.

It's a Lamborghini Countach-style(-ish) dragster, making lots of noise, going very fast and then crashing. So quite watchable, in fact.

old Lambos never did handle very well....

All that money, time and effort, and it needed 2 walls to bounce off to do 1/4 mile......

Mental. Reminds me of those RC cars you can build and just put any shell on top of it.

Either I'm having a serious case of Deja Vu or this has been covered before? P'raps it's just been a thread and not a news story.

Those burnouts before the start are very impressive, but surely by the time they've stopped and reversed slowly back the tyres are cool again?

It's been covered on topgear.com if you ever go there.

No the tyre compound is such that there very sticky as is the rubber left on the track. You then reverse onto the rubber you just laid and do the run.

Reminds me of 10 pin bowling where the useless ones use the raised barriers down each side to keep the ball out the gutter..........

I think those walls dished out the sentence the prosecution for copyright infringement were looking for.

Glad to see yesterday's Jalopnik is still supplying today's PH stories.

I never knew Lamborghini made a front engined glass fibre dragster. Good job it has an extra large nose badge to convince me it's authentic.

Well, it did look like a Countach at the start...not sure about it at the end though laugh

Always wondered how they got the inspiration for those mugs as well...

I like the comedy nose badge. Crash was unimpressive though, thought it was going to flip for a second.

With all due respect, once you realice what you have to fit under that carbon / glass fiber body you can see why they take the shape they do! These things are pretty bl00dy mental and you need to be a brave guy / girl to drvie one at full chat.

Think tiff tried a rail type dragster (would guess a 5-6 second 1/4 mile time) and he couldn't even keep his foot in off the line!

Im not saying the sport is without failings (they dont like moderen stuff much), but it and they people that drive and maintain these cars still deserve some respect.

Thanks,

Chris.
