You can only have 1 car for the next 20 years - which one?
Discussion
Just for fun...
You can only have 1 car for the next 20 years; it has been given to you for free and includes insurance and general maintenance throughout ownership (engine faults, brakes, etc). No free model updates - the car you get is THE car you'll be stuck with.
You have to pay for petrol and for anything stupid during your time owning it (e.g. power sliding into a lamppost because you were showing off), so be careful - you have to obey the law and drive as normal.
Bear in mind that you may want to pop to the shops, go on long journeys, sit in traffic and maybe even go off road. You can decide to have some ultra rare, expensive and special but only use it on those perfect days (you'll end up using public transport, cycle and walk for everything else) or have something more common so you don't have to worry too much about motoring.
Bear in mind the cost and type of fuel and think about what the future of motoring may be like in 20 years too. Zonda? Veyron? or something more economical like a classic mini? Range Rover for going off road?
What will you choose and why?

I kow ill get shot down in flames for this... but i would choose a Porsche Panamera 4S.
Having worked with the car, i absolutely love it, more fuel economic than the Panamera Turbo, but it still has enough grunt to get you where you need to be. Its refined, its classy, i actually like the way it looks, and, its quite practical!

I know where you're coming from. Having worked with the car, i absolutely love it, more fuel economic than the Panamera Turbo, but it still has enough grunt to get you where you need to be. Its refined, its classy, i actually like the way it looks, and, its quite practical!

I might go for the same, or a current M5.
Or a C63.
That's such a difficult question! I want to say my Elise S2 111S, because it's the best car I've ever driven, but then I'd have to give up the cello, cycling and kayaking, and to be honest I'd go a bit stir crazy driving to the Lake District on holiday each year! I just can't see any of that happening. Equally, I'd go a bit bonkers in something heavy without much steering feel all the time. I can't afford to run a Mclaren F1 with a tow bar (I agree with Kambites on that one), so it'd have to be an E92 M3 I think. I saw some comments above saying M5, but to be fair whilst it's a great car, would anyone really want such a leviathon as their only car?!
edited to add: I'd also go a bit mad not driving something lighter and faster than the Elise, such as a Caterham (Cock Womble's picture prompted me to make this edit).
So yes, my answer's an E92 M3, but I can guarantee I'd be miserable and waiting for my 54th birthday to come, at which point I'd instantly buy an R500 to go alongside it.
