Minor garage problem- Would like a steer.
Discussion
Afternoon all,
Took my recently acquired Bargain Baby Barge (1999 A4 1.8SE Auto) into the garage because of a water leak, they traced it to the temperature sensor housing, replaced this and a couple of air/vacuum hoses which had also gone. Result! Car no longer leaks water and is also running slightly better.
However, the temperature gauge no longer works. Took it back to the garage today and they reckon it now needs a new temperature sensor. Because I'm on holiday for the next 3 weeks I've booked it back in in November.
Question being, as the gauge was working before- Is the sensor an easy thing to break- IE should they be covering the cost?
It's a backstreet mechanics who have proved very reliable for me and are close to work, bill for above was £75- But I'd like a steer when I take it back in, although I'm sure he wouldn't intentionally take the piss!
Ta!

He may have broken it he may not have. Only he knows. ALso, if he had broken it he could have easily replaced it and added it to the bill at the time stating it disintegrated during disassembly.
I wouldn't worry about it with a bill as low as £75. Just get the sender fixed. Lifes too short.........
