New junction Heyford Hill Oxford
Discussion
Seems to be generally working well. However, a couple of points to watch for. Firstly, on the stretch from the Abingdon Road roundabout up towards Heyford Hill, I think there should be signs on the lanes at least halfway along, as there are the inevitable t
ts who blast up the right hand lane then dive in at the last second, seriously cutting up the poor peeps at the front os any traffic queue, including those who have left a sensible gap. (these presumably are the same t
ts that used to almost demolish the bollards placed at the last 150 yds or so while the works were still in progress)
Secondly, more serious this, coming from Henley direction when negotiating the junction, there is a dedicated lane CLEARLY marked S/STORE. So when I came round it yesterday, one joker (I was ready for him...) cut in front of me and almost simultaneously another one cut in behind. YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED.
Thirdly, drivers coming from Cowley and going through the hamburger can have problems when at the very front of the queue if the lights are on red, as they are not visible easily and change ahead of the second set. Once the lights change, those at the front are waiting for the lights to change and the first ones have gone to green before the second lot even display red/amber. Much hooting and wagging of fingers (of course this all depends upon the type of vehicle at the front and its field of view) Great fun.....
