Anyone know much about these?

Alternatively feel free to tell me it's a stupid idea for a daily drive, just not sure I'm ready to give up and get a Mondeo estate. Its just that I thought if parts were easily enough got, it should be mechanically simple enough and therefore reliable providing it doesn't rust away in 6 months confused

Had one as a company car about 20 years ago the G280 model, it was quite reliable and eventualy covered 160k miles before we got rid of it, the last straw was the new exhaust system which cost £1200 back then (1992).
It was very good off road and had locking diffs back and front, brakes were a little on the poor side and so was acceleration.
Inside it was very basic and was one vehicle I would not worry about taking a power washer to the inside smile
Lots were used by the Northern Constablulary as police cars and were equiped with a multitude of antenna on the roof.
Economy wise it wasnt! struggled to get past 20mpg.

invincible mechanicals, but cripplingly expensive to replace if you do actually manage to break it.

get it, bolt on some 40" muds and have fun!

I don't have first hand experience with then but only heard good reports overall. That one being a diesel & very low mileage looks good value on the face of it. If it's in good order, I can't see how you could go wrong buying it, it's hardly going to depreciate either.

Hugely expensive back in the day and horrifically slow - I think the top speed back in '84 was about 72mph yikes - that was the final straw and why my dad got the "new" five speed Landcruiser.

Proper cult car though.

If you want a laugh nip down your local MB dealer - Leeds had one in a few weeks ago. Looked just like the one in the OPs picture, but new and with tints. Leather interior, otherwise identical to the original. Very aftermarket looking electric seat controls and what looked like Ripspeed after-market DVD screens on the back of the head restraints.

Ninety-three thousand pounds! (£93,000.00) yikes What. The. fk!

Cheers folks, may have to go and investigate.

It won't get too much abuse offroad bar getting the mountain bikes up various tracks.
Not too worried about performance, as long as it gets to 60 on a motorway.
Fuel economy, meh

I'd pop along quickly, otherwise my guess it will sold quickly if it's a good one.
