Hi All,

Over the past few week, I have noticed more and more flies just sitting on Mrs. Ice's car.

I always keep her car pretty much immaculate. It gets a full clean and polish every weekend.

This is no wind up, the other 2 cars on our drive a free from flies!!

The car in question is a brilliant silver C-class estate 2006...although I'm not sure that is gonna help?

Oh...the other cars are red and dark pearl grey.......does brilliant silver attract flies?

This is all very strange....there might be as many as 50 files on the car!

Help

Surely the car that should attract flies is a spyder!

My friend has a spyder....he found it on the web.!

(hook appears from stage right and grabs me round neck)

What I really meant, was a quick spray wax every weekend....the real problem here is the horror like state of the car!!

They will be attracted to the lighter coloured car, I suppose the same as to lights @ dusk.

When we used to play football in the evenings as kids, if the ball stayed still for a moment the flies would start pitching on it.

Possibly it could be the smell of the wax/polish . Very annoyingly, I keep my car pretty clean and had a couple of weeks where ants were all over the bonnet and the front of it- prob about 50 sometimes. Little sods , nothing a dose of ant powder under the car did not sort out though.

I believe very well kept paint has the effect of polarising the light striking it, which is the mechanism by which many insects find water...

Used to have a silver Focus which when cleaned attracted loads of flies and flying ants in the summer so you're not the only one.

My mums car has the same problem. Its a white Audi. My car, parked right next to it doesnt get any flies.
I recon its a paint additive, or something to do with light coloured cars.

Have you checked the boot recently? Any mafia connections within the family?
