Following on from "Its nippy", the latest choice of car to allow J4CKO #1 kid to drive is a lovely Peugeot 107 Puritan, not an actual special edition, just what I have christened it, I am not averse to small simple cars but the rub is that the insurance for kid A will be enforced by a sneaky black box which means you have to drive like you have a car full of unrestrained eggs, is this petrolhead hell, the death of a thousand cuts, I cant think of anything worse, a 68 bhp supermini that you cant even bk senseless because the central scrutinizer will cancel your insurance, its like motoring techno Stalinism !

I think I must have really upset Karma in a previous life !

poor kid. I would hate driving to know every meter is being watched

how exactly is it enforced? what can you get away with?

Ok, sorry, been having day off beers !

Need to get a car for eldest kid to learn in and it involves me selling mine to get the aforementioned Pug 107 with an in car virtual mother in law black box of dissaproval, a box that does not appreciate advanced skills and "hooning", my question was, is there a worse fate for a petrolhead, obviously it wont happen without some other change in the fleet or divorce but I cant think of a worse fate than a 1.0 supermini with an electronic nanny that makes ESP look like Howard Marks in terms of liberal intervention.

Well, when you finish your day of beers, perhaps you could try again?

I couldn't do it. If that was my only option, I'd cycle.

Tragic.

There probably isnt a worse fate, unless you swap the 107 for a 3 wheeler. How is the kid going to learn the roads if he has to drive everywhere at 29 and not pull more than 0.0000000002 G in the bends?

judging by the speeds it's going to let him go you might as well get the kid a moped.

The really tragic thing is the wife seems to think my car is the one to go, I am not all that bothered about it anyway but its quick, I did think that I would upgrade next year from the Saab to something better but it seems she thinks I will be going the other way with an electronic nanny to top it off, it is nt like you can turn it off either,

I cycle most days so the car doesnt get that much use but this is not a fate I will take lying down !

Is the black box entirely necessary? last time i looked a 107 had a 3 cylinder engine that had about 65bhp...
