Video: McLaren 12C At The Nurburgring

Nice footage, but no full lap in latest official release

It's not the full unexpurgated on-board camera lap the world (well some of it) has been waiting for, but McLaren has released this official video record of the 12C at the Nurburgring.

You get talky bits from McLaren test driver Chris Goodwin, and some driving (and talking) from the editor in chief of German magazine Sport Auto who claims to have cracked off a 7min 28sec lap.

Is this the preamble to the main release? Hopefully - we reckon it's time the 12C put its money where its mouth is...

Sounds great. Sub-7.30 with less than 600bhp? The "Sport" or "GT" version will be epic. wink

Lottery win for me would be straight to the MCL dealer, and then a Zonda biggrin

sport Auto says that was the second fastest time (07:28) ever recorded (road legal according to TÜV), 4 seconds behind the GT2 RS.

Dörr Motorsport will bring two GT3 cars to the 24H race and VLN series in 2012! Should be fun.

Oh man. With road tyres too. That's pretty epic.

Great, but from what I hear the few production ones on the road are having a few "teething troubles"....

7:24 for a nissan (gtr) rather puts the "success" in context

Stunning car, yet subtle.

JCG, I think you mean 7:34 for the Nissan, yes a very good result but some 6 seconds of the McLaren pace, I would like to see what tyres the nissan used, it is quoted as semi slick, which if these are yoko48/toyo888 type tyres then they will offer much more time over Pirelli Corsa's that it says the McLaren ran on.

I was honestly expecting a little quicker than that.... Who knows! Will wait for the official release of a full lap.

Saw an orange MP4-12C at the ring when I was there in September. It does look great in the flesh.

I must say I was proud to be lapping the nordscleife in my matching "Mclaren Orange" transit campervan.

I can't wait to see the full lap video as i'm sure it will be very impressive. Contrary to popular James May/Top Gear belief, I do think a Nordscleife lap time is still very important and reveals a lot about a performance car.

Are P-Zero Corsa's not Pirelli's entry into the track day tyre market? Rosso and Nero being the normal road tyres.

I think they are an 'extreme performance summer tyre' and designed for the road and track

Looks a lot better on the move to be honest. If I could do a lap of the Nurburgring in any car though it would be a Porsche Carrera GT.

The white car looks to have a problem with damping. I'd be requesting the suspension upgrade on the Orange car if I were placing an order for one.
