Greetings from Norway.

I plowed through the classifieds the other day, and stumbled upon a little beauty. An Ocean-blue Mercedes Benz 1990 190E 2.3 auto.
This had been owned by a pensioner who had garaged it all his life, and used it sparingly. only 78.000 miles!
Photos did not do it justice. I went to have a look, I kid you not, it looked nearly brand new. Honestly, plastics interior everything resembled a 2 year old car tops. Underneath it was still shiny, nice and sorted. No rust, clean as can be. the car is completely rust-free! This must have been used in the summer mostly. Freshly MOT`ed, passed with flying colors. 0 faults. Newly serviced. New tires winter and summer. Same rims and diameter on the winter tyres.

So I told the dealer I wanted it. Problem was, it was already reserved until the next day 2 PM. Ok I said. Came back next day, 45 minutes until the deadline. It passed. People were calling left and right to tell the dealer they wanted it, didnt even want to see it. Fortunately, The dealer suddenly said after contemplating a bit. " Ok, lets write a contract".

Fine lets! I said. Done and done. What did I pay? 4000 pounds. In Norway. Not exactly expensive here in Norway? put into perspective. a 10 year old Jaguar XJ or XK here is like 40.000 pounds. a 15 year old corolla is 10.000 pounds.

Now, any thread is worthless without pictures right? Right.. these are bad quality ones, way too bright. still, any excuse and all that:

Really?! Can you import RHD cars, because they are much cheaper over here.

Jesus. H. Christ on a bike (couldn't afford a car. Even religious icons have a limit...). FOURTY THOUSAND POUNDS for a 10 y/o Jag, and 10 THOUSAND POUNDS for a 15 y/o Corolla?!

Depends on various factors including engine size, emissions etc etc.

When I was living there I thought of importing my 5 year old 1.6 Golf over across. The tax? £6,600.

The car was only worth £6k.

Still cheaper than a Corrolla though! biggrin

hahaha! Well at least the alcohol tax makes even the worst cat piss similar in price to the best stuff. Might as well just drink the best champagne and wine...
Cheapest cat piss is not that much cheaper anyway..

Very nice. Norwegian prices always made my eyes water. Love the place. But my love for beer & cars (not at the same time) would be the end of me (and my bank account).
