Hello all... I'm having to travel to London, from Liverpool, a couple of times a month for meetings at head office, but the tickets are prohibitively expensive for the times I need to travel.

Are there any railcards that would suit? I'm fairly new to this rail travel business, travel alone, and need to travel peak and off peak.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Simon

Would it be cheaper to take a plane? I found rail travel for that very journey to be daft expensive. Cheaper to hire a car as well.

Think it was about £110 for me return but I only paid £25 to fill up the smart earlier. Depends on whether you want to arrive with a numb bum though.
One of our mutual friends finds travelling from Runcorn better by the way. Leave the car in the carpark there.

How old are you?
If you are 25 or under you could get a 16-25 railcard. You'll get 1/3 off your fare and travelling Virgin they allow you to use the railcard peak times unlike other TOCS.
You could try advance fares. As little as £10 you can travel one way if you know specific times when you can travel. The tickets come out 6-8 weeks before the date of travel.
London Midland only I think it's £39 that's for an off peak return, 09:04 bein the first train out of Liverpool. Downside is it takes 4 hours to get to Euston.
This will get moved more than likely.
Anytime return is £271 before 09:04, 09:04 having to change, the first direct is 09:48, off peak return is £70 returning before 15:00 or after 18:45.
