What to do, daughters just passed her test and went out for a drive unaccompanied. In the local retail park she was waiting in a queue of cars when a Landie Defender reversed out and straight into the front of her car. When we phone him up he denies all responsibility
Now what do you fellow Pistonheaders suggest;
1. Go and burn his house down
2. Take it through the insurance process
3. Bite the bullet and get it repaired (approx. £600)
The guy's lack of responsibility and attitude make me ashamed to own a Landrover.

See if the car park has CCTV? Failing that it will be her word against his, so can't imagine it going very far I'm afraid (he could just as easily say she drove into him)

CCTV in the retail park or any of the buildings nearby?

Phone him up and tell him you have it on tape from the cctv and he can either fess up or deal with the the police?

As much as it pains me to say it, I feel you're going to be much better to pay up for it (if it really is only £600) than any other options.

The end results I see are:

1. You claim on his insurance. They chuck you £600. You then must declare it in the future. More £££ down the drain in the future.
2. You claim on your insurance because he won't give you details. He says she hit him. It goes 50:50 and she has to declare it in the future. More £££ down the drain in the future.

3. You pay for it, don't tell insurance company and then I guess you wouldn't ever tell the insurance company and not as much £££ down the drain over 3/5 years.

Not an ideal situation and the fella's obviously a .

Was she shaken up about it?

how did you get his phone number?

My suggestion?

Get your daughter a defender, or let her use yours

Which bit does he deny? that it was his fault? that he was there?

Getting a phone number off him implies he knew what had happened. If it came up infront of a magistrate, he'd struggle to explain why he handed out his phone number if nothing happened.

To be honest, I would be patching it up with tape and parts from Ebay - you can bet a penny to a pound that it will need doing again within 12 months!

Also, try and get CCTV footage - there is an official procedure to go through with regards to letters etc. If true this turd has left the scene of an accident with out providing his details - which is very naughty

I had some drooling grey hair reverse into me whilst I was parked in a Tesco's car park. The CCTV was used to gain a swift closure from the insurance company in my favour.
