Evening chaps,

Just after some thoughts on a respray quote for my JZR.

Local garage I use and trust recomended a bodyshop to me, they have inspected the car and quoted a price of £1000 inc VAT for the respray.

Points I can remember;

Painted Land Rover Metallic Kent Green,
Single colour all over, inside and out,
Car fully stripped and ready to be painted, no 'rebuilding' to be done by bodyshop.
Estimated 22 hours work, prep, paint and 'bake'?

Also, I have a new bonnet (without the hole) which they trim, fit and paint to suit.

What do you think to the quote? Chap at the local garage thinks its a good price...

Bargain - that's £45 an hour if you don't include materials. If they're good I'd have their hand off before they change their mind.

Nice car by the way.

100% spot on. You'd pay between 1500-2000 where I'm from.

It seems reasonable but I'd expect a good job for that. Dad runs an insurance approved bodyshop and it costs him £550 cost to paint a brand new Caterham, £800-900 to paint a well used one in need of bodywork repair etc. Surprisingly small amount of room for profit on work like this.

What's the location in the country?

I must admit, I think I like it in red, but the colour choice is of course yours!!

Im in Leeds.

I do have a slight nag about dropping the Red, it goes suit it well.

A full respray is required due to the bodywork getting a little tatty, I hope the green works well!

Cheers Goose,

Its a JZR kit car, best described as 'inspired by' the early morgans... I wouldnt want anybody to get their knickers twisted by claiming its a replica!

Old honda CX500 engine provides the power, enough to make is pretty nippy but certainly not rapid...

I wouldnt have her any other way!

That's about what my dads 'shop would charge, if you've seen their work and are happy with it, go for it!

I've been quoted £2,000 +vat for a complete respray on the 200sx (Down in Surrey though). Chap doing it is v good, but I've done all the prep work. Might be worth me trailering it up north if thats the difference in price!! smile

So sounds like a dencet price to me!

£45 an hour for a body shop is steep, really steep.

£25 to £35 is fair.

I think its a little pricey tbh considering they are not doing the stripping.

OP, the paint (Kent Green) isn't to my taste. But that doesn't matter at all because you're the one who has to be happy with it.

If you're happy with the colour, all power to your arm. biggrin Show us pics of the result! thumbup

I think it looks good in red, don't paint it some pasty modern colour, it will look weird.
If you do go for green try to go for a colour contemporary to the Morgans it was copied from.

Any suggestions on somewhere below the M3, of a decent standard of course?
