Good evening PH!
Right as some of you may know I currently drive a 99' Mercedes e200, now the thing is I want something new and the e200 is staying with the OH, i dont care what size it is, insurance may be a problem as I'm still only 18, I've got a budget of 12k but caterhams and mx5's are out because of my size! PH, find me a new car!

I meant because of the people that read my readers cars thread, sorry! More fun than ther merc I guess, doesn't have to be practical as we have the E for when the OH gives birth.

Sorry, when you say OH, do you mean like a wife, or something less permanent ?

Anyway If I had £12K I'd buy a £5K 7 year old Honda Accord Diesel, give my OH (wife of 22 years) her full ISA allowance, and stick the rest in my own stocks and shares ISA, and put it on RR shares when they bottomed out at £5.60 the other month.

OH-girlfriend, id like to think its permanent! Basically she's got the car as its basically worthless and it's practical for when baby SB is born, I want something fun for myself excluding caterhams and mx5's and the like.

ETA: To be helpful what about a Skoda Octavia or Fabia VRs, Focus ST. My car is for sale?

I've just been offered a 2009 (59) vx insignia cdti sri for 8.5k, it's nothing like I wanted but looks so clean, I'm tempted by the fact that it quite new and slightly cheaper than what they're going for on eBay, any thoughts on these?

How on earth your getting these cars insured at 21 is behond me, you must live in a excelent area!

It's the lowest rating of the town I live in, mother, father, girlfriend on my insurance, they're not exactly ferrari's?

Er... Insignia? Go for something older and a trillion times more fun. I won't even start to list the potential options, there's far too many. All depends on what you want but there's an awful lot out there you could afford to buy & run for the same sort of cost as a diesel saloon...

If you have a baby on the way why not spend £2-4k on something cheap and reliable with 5 doors then use the remaining £8-10k on the baby, you will need it......

I live with my mum in a 4 bedroom house so room for the baby when he/she comes along, my girlfriend is keeping our Mercedes as said before its practical and worth nothing! I'm not powerfully built I'm just fat!(very fat) and I'm 5'11"

Then forget blowing 12k on a car and get a flat. Especially with a little one in tow.

Not much help but can't really imagine still living at home with my mum, missus and baby at 18 with £12k depreciating away on the drive and nothing left in the bank.
