You get some strange ones don't you!

This came through the other day, I just thought how nice, but a bit strange!

'It's out of my price range ever so slightly but I wanted to congratulate you on a fantasticly presented car and a great listing. I've been salivating a little more than is normal I shall admit, but I'm going to watch this to see what it goes for. Best of luck with it.

- perfectgentpersonified'

The advert is nothing special in my eyes, but it made me feel good!

Oh and I had someone else call to talk about the car, one of his comments was 'You can tell a lot about a car by the manner of the advert. Correct spelling and decently set out count for a lot'

I immediately thought.......Pistonheader!

What have you had?

I recently sold a car for £4,500.
I just got stuff like;

£3000 Cash waiting.

Wtz ur best prce?

Wll u take £2500 today.

And my favourite little discussion;
Iz it stll 4 sale?

Which I received while showing a chap the car, he bought it, so I replied to the text with.
'I'm sorry, it's just been sold'

And he replied
'why dnt u tke the advrt dwn thn'

Such a charming patient chap.

To which I replied 'I already have a bid on the car for £10,100 and the car is worth @£16k so I will have to say no'

And the other normal

'What you lokin fer'

Once replied to I then got 'There is one on for £10,500'

Well go and Effing buy it then!

Those are expected, but what about the unexpected.....

You must be quite slow in reading then if 4 lines of text really waste so much of your valuable time.

Got a Discovery in the classifieds at the moment - keep getting emails to the tune of - 'what's the lowest price you will accept'

The advert has a fecking asking price for a reason - the fact that people want to knock me down without even getting off their arses to come and view it really irritates me.

The unexpected thing about the replies to my current car for sale ad is that there hasn't been a single one frown

It's not the timewasting part really.

It's just that you get a text, you think that you might be selling the car, your heart rate quickens, your mind jumps to the idea of what you will do with the money, the adrenal gland starts pumping out happy juice, you get ready to haggle and negotiate and … it's just some rubbish text.
It's frustrating.

silly

I was actually trading in my car to a dealer (E36 Cabrio). It was a nice day and the roof was tucked away - the obviously new sales guy asked if it came with a roof, I asked if he meant a hard top, but no; he honestly thought the soft top was a seperate peice of cloth and that I hadn't brought it with me??

I didn't expect that.

This doesn't strike anyone as a fairly left-field negotiation tactic?

Say you don't really get the nibble you want....you think, hang on, well that nice bloke who complimented my ad said 'It's out of my price range (and here is the important bit) EVER SO SLIGHTLY'.

To me it sounds like this guy is trying, as I said in a very left field manner, to open negotiation.

Apart from the endless string of emails wanting to buy by stuff for a loved one while they are out of the country and will get their agent to collect it, having paid by paypal (usually signing off " Stay Blessed rolleyes )

I advertised a bike a few years ago and had a lad from Bristol wanting to swap lots of gadgets and white goods for it.
Unused I Phones, X Box, Wii etc

I declined as I wanted the cash but he kept upping his offer with more gadgets etc.

In the end I told him it was sold and took the ad down.
