So, it's been lashing down in sunny Newcastle this morning, and to cut a long story short, for the first time in my admittedly fairly short driving career, after entering a roundabout to go around in the outside lane, I found myself sitting in the inside lane looking at a selection of bemused oncoming drivers.

It happened to me in my Hilux.
Although I was already in the inside lane so I ended up sitting facing the wrong way with the passenger half of the car 2 foot higher than the other half up the banked roundabout.
I found it strange to have a 'crash' but not hit anyone, and have no need to get out the car or call the police – just smile sheepishly and drive off.
Oddly enough, two weeks after I saw it happen to someone else in front of me.
The first bit of rain after a dry spell tends to bring all the oil and grease up out of the road and makes the roads slipper than they would be normally.

I think you get excused for that then, this was just a combination of too much enthusiasm, and not enough talent, coupled with s
t tyres.Most probably in this order of relevance:
1) Not enough talent
2) too much enthusiasm
- the tyres were crap as well

Again, thats what I said! 
Quite,I'm not saying the greasy wet roads cause it, but it means the roads are a lot less forgiving when you lose the backend.
I have done extensive testing since then, and can say that once you get sideways a road covered in fresh oily rain allows a lot more slide than a wet road the next day.
However, if you accidentally put it sideways in the first place then there's only one place to look for blame.

Haha I know what you mean, I knew I wasn't going to hit anybody as there wasn't anybody on the roundabout when I entered it, my main concern was someone crashing into me as they came round. Once I realised other cars had stopped to let me turn round and get on my way I had a chuckle about it. An old guy drove past me on the dual carriageway afterwards and his look of disapproval was priceless "Yes, I meant to spin round in the middle of a roundabout and look like an idiot"
I came off a roundabout once, kicked the back end out for a laugh - cue the girlfriend screaming.
Straightened up, then it went the other way (wheels must still have been spinning) - cue me screaming.
Like most people on forums, it was definitely because of a diesel spill from a HGV making it's way into the frankie and benny's car park

I actually think there should be some places in the country where this can be practiced.. Imagine for females etc who wouldn't understand what to do when the back end slides away, they'll just end up in a spin, where as if you know what to do (I've done it a few times, not deliberately!) and gave it a 'dab of oppo' and successfully controled the spin and left the roundabout.
Have actually seen a PHer (sticker on rear left) lose their VX220 on a roundabout, was quite a gap between the traffic so nobody was at risk and to be fair it was hammering it down only moments ago.
