I think your sister in law should perhaps buy a reliable car that doesn't leak water or have a knackered fan.
Perhaps one with a few warning lights that work.

Some people just don't want a car that required daily/weekly maintenance.
They just want to drive the thing unless a warning light comes on.
Perhaps check the tyres or oil every 2 months or so, but generally just drive the thing.

I had an old Volvo Estate, fairly bullet proof, she had it for a few months, never checked the water level, blew it up, so scrapped!
Remind me never to buy a bulletproof jacket from you.

I have a bulletproof hilux.
I literally haven't changed anything under the hood except windscreen washer for 5 years – except a few mm of brake fluid when the warning light came on two weeks after a set of new discs.
It gets serviced once a year and fluids replaced.
I used to check the oil often – but don't anymore because it just doesn't leak.
That's a bulletproof car.
I hope I haven't just jinxed it.

Something that can leak all the water and blow up in 2 months isn't bulletproof imo.
Sorry.

So your Sister In Law listens to your advice on buying a car, you get her ones that break and you are the one that complains.

I see.

+1. She'd probably be better off buying something on her own.

Bulletproof???? hahaha.

Stop advising your sister in law to buy heaps of $hit.

In all seriousness, if i was her, i'd be asking you for my money back or at least to cover the cost of the repairs.

She has trusted your (albeit extremely limited) mechanical knowledge, and its cost her two cars, not to mention the inconvenience.

Please, dont recommend the poor lassie any more cars.

Stephen.

Deleted thread guys, she had admitted to leaving the cap off the radiator on the MX, and just popping it on when she got to mine!

Oh well, garage just phoned her, its def terminal.

Dont think she ever pops on here, would be surprised, but will leave it at that, she is upset enough!

The other posts made me giggle, love PH responses!

Yours was just rude, there again, when I saw your online name it made me think of Billy Connolly with a pair of nunchucks!

Mmmmm from memory..

OP moans about sister not looking after cars.

OP obtains car on sisters behalf, but car has issues, and car goes pearshaped.

Rinse & repeat...

OP gets kicking from the PH Massive smile

Or something very similar.
