Making a Cat D vehicle road legal?
Discussion
Hope someone can help me here.
Two weekends back someone drove into my Jeep. Not a huge amount of damage, from what I can tell cosmetic.
Anyhow on Monday this week they sent an assessor out.
This morning the Jeeps been for an MoT and passed fine. However on getting home I spoke to the other persons insurance company to see what was happening.
They tell me it's a "total loss write off". And want to give me a cheque for £x's. And there vehicle will be registered as a Cat D.
Do I need to get the vehicle inspected or as it's just been MoT'd (after the accident) and I good to accept the money and not need to do anything else?

I don't think you need to do anything for a Cat D,
I bought a car that was cat C, very minor damage that been repaired and converted into a race car, to get a log book I had to have a Vehicle Identity check by VOSA but it wasn't in anyway a technical check just looked at the chassis & reg numbers took all of 5 minutes.
