I was thinking today (dangerous I know!).

TVRs are the only 'mental' car I can think of nowadays - every model is pretty quick, rather than jazzed up normal models you get from other marques.

So... When they are all gone, what do we think will replace them as the stupidly powerful fireball of choice?

Good question, and that will be a sad day for sure. Perhaps a motorcycle?

Will it be hot because of the TVR related fireball?

It's not all dire straits for nuts sportscars, in the UK at least we have the likes of Caterham, Radical etc, while they don't provide the likes that TVR did in terms of practicality I'd like to think they keep the future open.

Fibreglass doesn't rot, unstressed V8s run forever, and it's not too difficult to tie bits of scaffolding together to make a replacement chassis every now and then boxedin

They're going to be around for a while yet (or until the petrol runs out).

Edit to add, fibreglass does get brittle from UV exposure, so you're damned if you take your tiv out in the wet (buggers up the chassis), and your damned if you take it out in the sun hehe

Genuine dilemma tomorrow. Do I take the Tuscan out for the weekend away, or do I drop the manual hood and have some fun in the freshly serviced MX5 (albeit at a slightly slower average speed......)

In the Tuscan wink

How true, but its not just TVR that can/did do this. Think its fairly safe to say that the entire model range (albeit small) of the below is a bit ... well ... extreme !

yank steel

Corvette would probably be the closest factory built spiritual successor, or perhaps the viper.

Pah! common as muck round my way.

Not that I have issues with my 3 friends who have recently bought an Ultima...each

(it's a sorry day when your Tuscan is the slowest car amongst your mates)

Its really sad to realise there is no more TVR frown

My tuscan is the first car i have ever been satisfied with. I love it even more every time i use it and despite being 10 years old it still looks awesome, perhaps beautiful even.

Really sad frown

Don't be sad. Go to the garage and say good-night; you'll soon feel better

Corvette has composite body, alloy engine and alloy wishbones.

All true. Base car has a steel chassis and racier Z06 has an all-aluminium chassis. This is a Z06,

Note the rear mounted transmission for ideal weight distribution.
