Hi all,
Heading to Celtic Manor this weekend and was wondering if there are any good driving roads around that area for a Sunday morning blast? Weather permitting of course.
Grateful for any suggestions

Thank you.

The whole area is full of great roads simply avoid dual carriageways and you can't really go very wrong.

Anything that doesn't begin with an "M" is pretty fine. smile Even the DC's aren't too bad, but busier at a weekend so likely less fun than a single carriageway.

I like the A40 between Abergavenny and Brecon. smile

A466 isn't bad but suffers from tourists with their caravans and the like, also a lot of "Sunday driver" types. Not many passing places either.

A472 however is a great drive, lots of passing places. Watch out on the Usk to Caerleon road, blind corners hiding farm gates etc. Many years ago I had a mate who was killed on this road so maybe that's why I'm a bit cautious when driving it.

From Celtic Manor join the M4/M48 east and go to the Chepstow junction. Head out of Chepstow and pick up the B4235 and take it to Usk, then the B4598 through to Abergavenny. This is a particularly fine set of twisties.

Pick up the A465 signposted Merthyr for a few miles than peel off onto the B4560 signposted LLangynidr. Depends how long you want to head out for but you could either head back to the Manor or go for Brecon and north enjoying the B4520/4519 to Upper Chapel/Treflys. These roads couple fine hairpin laden twisty action with spectacular views.

Enjoy!
