Morning all,

Just bought this and wondered what you thought it's new price might have been.

I'm going with about £23k or, in other words, a lot for a Mini.

Mid twenties

One word of advice, make sure you take full advantage of the remaining warranty as a 60k mile MINI is sure to need some warranty work! and even regular MINI's can soon chew a couple of grand getting them A1 if they havent been looked after.

Also TLC servicing pack expires at 60k so look at maybe getting TLC XL @ £275 (servicing till 8yrs/80k which ever is first) if you're planing on doing many miles

Basic price is £22,400.00 without all the extras.
I would say add another £4k on top at least.

I use www.parkers.co.uk if you go to the "what's it worth" section you can select your car/MY and tick the various options it has. It'll then give you a cost for when it was new.

Makes it interesting to see depreciation - someone paid nearly £50k for my M3 when it was new!

About 22ppm depreciation. Is that a lot?

ppm depreciation is irrelevant, as you could have a 5k car which is also 5y.o., or a 50k car which is 1y.o.

IMHO that is a lot of Mini for the money. If you're buying it as a 2nd car and will do <10k a year for 2 or 3 years, then it'll be an 80k car at 5y.o., which is high-mileage but not stupidly so...and will be worth well over half what they're asking for it!

That is a Cooper S with the retro fit John Cooper bits, not a factory built JCW.

There is a distinct difference, and a Cooper S + John Cooper bits does not a JCW make.

And one would have cost a lot more ppm than the other. Why is that irrelevant? It's pretty standard economics to me!

Not at all - ppm depreciation is SO dependent upon how and how often the owner uses the car - can't be used as a useful measure.

The absolute depreciation over the period of ownership is what is relevant, as that is the cash cost to the owner. Whether they intend to do 5k or 25k while they own it is known only to them. Sure it affects the depreciation, but not pro-rata...below a certain level, most depreciation is age-related not mileage-related.

Looks really good excellent choice smile
I concur it would have been at least £20k for that spec, seems to have a lot of options on it. But, the price today would be higher than what it cost in 2009 as there have been increases.

Cheers Vaio. The Car is stunning inside. Been a long time since I've owned a Mini, but can really see me holding onto this one for a long time. Especially since my annual mileage is peanuts so whats high mileage for the year now will soon be much more normal. Meep, meep. driving

Sorry, I see your point now. I wasn't trying to make out that all MINIs cost 22ppm in depreciation, just making a statement about this one particular car.

You can see how people can be tempted to clock cars - if that had 20k on it instead of nearly 60, I reckon it could be worth £2-3k more.

And all the time there is no (real) punishment for clocking cars, "mileage correction services" will continue to flourish.
