Hi all,just looking for advice
I was travelling today towards Wales into the Tolls and the 50mph limit,i cruised into the limit at around 60mph and allowed my speed to drop slowly and safely to the 50mph limit, when a 4x4 flies along side me and slams on pulling in front of me causing me to brake,he slows down to below 50mph,all this happens in seconds as you can imagine,i decide to overtake before i get anywhere near the Tolls i pull into the fast lane and overtake him,by this time im doing around 65mph perhaps slightyl less, when into my view i see a camera van parked on top of the bridge look at my speedo and im doing around 65mph,i brake to bring my speed down but i think its too late,i know they usually give you 10% plus a couple of mph for speedo inaccuracy also read they give upto 6mph in some forces in that case im hoping i was borderline??whats peoples thoughts on this?
Im just wondering if you think ive been caught?
anyone else been caught here and at what speed or anyone thought they would have been caught and got away with it and at what speed was that?

My mate got caught there at around 60mph just letting off of the throttle and letting the speed slowly drop down to the 50. He got 3 points and a fine.

If they're working to ACPO theyll be enforcing over 57mph
Depending on your car it could be reading 10mph fast at 65 so you be doing 55 in real life. More like you'll have been around 60.
Wait and see if you get a ticket and pay £80 for the course.
Theyre notorious - saves putting up the tolls?

what you have now is the "long wait".... each day the posty arrives will be a risk.

after about 5 days you will think you have got away with it... but you may not have.

I have been there...

what I really don't like is the way that they send you a letter "Notice with Intent to Prosecute" ... makes you feel like a total crim.

15 days of waiting ahead of you ... and bear in mind they could be targeting everyone at 51mph and above - all depends on if they are using the guidelines or not.

Note: guidelines are just that - a guide; and not de facto. So you could be done for doing 51.

Check the local force website. Some of them are quite open about locations and limits.

My ex-wife was a junior barrister when that limit changed - she said they were banging through countless people every day for speeding there. I always go down to 50 for the limit and hold it religiously, the van is there a lot.

Welcome to Wales.
