I am thinking of a second car, one for just going to Asda, or Tesco, dropping the kids off at school etc.
Journeys where the distance is no more than 2 miles.
Now, while I do like driving the Range Rover, I know I am getting fleeced by the cost of the diesel.

There doesn't seem to be many options for electric only cars here in UK.
or am I missing some?

China has some really good looking, and performing cars.
The BYD cars look quite good.
Here is a Corolla "lookalike" The BYD F3
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/13/detroit-2009-by...

Quoted "Powered by a 1.0-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, BYD says their Toyota Corolla lookalike boasts 168-horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. So equipped, the car can reach 60 miles-per-hour in 10.5 seconds, although it tops out at just 93 mph. More importantly, officials claim that the F3DM will run purely on battery power for 62 miles(!). BYD says the car's Fe battery packs reach a 50% charge in just ten minutes, and a full charge can be obtained in just seven hours from a standard power outlet. Oddly, the very same press release notes that the Fe battery in the company's E6 crossover can be fully recharged in 60 minutes. "

The other BYD I would concider is the F0 DM (Dual Mode)
Similar to the Aygo.

Which ones are you thinking of? The only ones you mention are BYD and they are not available in Europe.

Thinking of importing either an F0 DM or a F3 DM

ie, Aygo size or Corolla size.
They are already on sale LHD in Europe.
BYD have announced they will soon be making the RHD varients for the Hong Kong market.

I am not aware of other RHD electric cars, except for Prius?

Prius is a hybrid. As is Honda Insight and Toyota Auris. Lexus do several hybrids too.

As for proper, pukka electric cars, you are looking at the Nissan Leaf, Peugeot Ion/Mitsubishi Imev (both of which are very expensive) and a whole bunch of stuff coming from Renault very shortly. Or, quadricycles like the G-wiz.
