Maybe it's just me, i knew bigger engined cars were taking a hit, but this stunned me.

2.8 V6 Aero, 40,000 miles... on the clock, all the usual Aero refinements, Xenon headlights too.
I'd like you to have a mental guess in your head before i tell you how much it is...

£5495! I expected this to be about 7-8k.

And thats from a trader too. If it weren't black, and didnt have terrible beige interior, i'd have that tomorrow.

Is it just because big engine cars are taking a hit, or is it because it's a Saab and they're going down the pan? Or maybe its option 3, my valuation of cars is just all over the place biglaugh

The perfect storm: big engine, high taxes, high fuel prices and a manufacturer that's about to go under, with corresponding market worries over the warranties of newer cars, and parts supply for everything else.

I'd wait, personally. If Saab do go, then it ring plastered all over the news will hammer residuals further still.

I'd buy it if I didn't have my 2001 V70.

What about these RX-8s?

Late 2006, limited run PZ model with all the gubbins and on 70k for £4,450

It's not an isolated issue either, £6,200 for a 2009 Anniversary edition with 46k is just ridiculously cheap!

Yes, sold it a few weeks ago. I even tried to discourage him with talk of 15 mpg and compression issues (not mine personally), but he seemed like he did some researcg so it wasn't a massive surprise to him unlike the other dullards who didn't know the first thing about them.

I guessed £4500 for that Saab, so it still seems a bit pricey to me!
It's near 6 year old.

That does look great value. I previously had a few of the V6 Turbo Saabs and really enjoyed them. It is an old feeling car inside but they have a nice feel to them.
I would say black with tan hide is quite a desirable combination as well.

isnt it the tax that kills the RX-8?

I think >£400 per year if the model was manufactured after 2006. (Can't remember the month, June?)

I think those 9-3 estates a damn fine looking cars, and the 2.8t engine is sweet. However almost every 9-3 I see has a hideous two-tone intertior that makes me want to barf, I couldn't live with it.

Without being too depressing the combination of Economic slowdown, fuel prices (still too high) Road tax, Insurance and sheer cost of ownership of the larger engined cars will depress prices a lot further yet.

The £450 road tax is a real killer on car values IMHO.

Bargains abound and will do for some time.

And the fact it is a SAAB - Nobody wants to pay top money for them as they are teetering on the edge. Plenty bargains to be had....

Same guess here. TBH not a particularly sought after car new even with a diesel engine so no suprise this one has plummeted like a stone.

Once you add in all of the other issues with Saab at the moment...

FYI I actually like the colour combo, suits the car well.

Even the more desirable diesel models are cheap.

07 (56) 9-3 estate 150bhp with all the toys for £4,800.

Aren't these the vauxhall engines?

Engine parts must be interchangable and other parts will be available for a few years anyway.

If the car is registered before 23rd March 2006 then it will be in the lower tax bracket! They drive beautifully.

There is a reason they are cheap...

The engine is the GM/Fiat unit, which isn't the weakest part of the car. Comfy cars that look quite nice but the build is awful.

Get out of here! I would have said £5-6k tongue in cheek, realistic estimation? £6,995 from a dealer I guessed.

Exactly. I ran a 2.3 Aero for a short while and they are very nice cars reliable, if a little thirsty and they torque steer badly but great cars. They also make very good used bargains as they depreciate like crazy.
