How will this affect Chris Harris' monthly repayments?

Just reading the title I thought "bound to be a Porsche of some sort".

The problem is the award loses most of its respect when the outcome is so predictable.

It was inevitable. Since it's release they haven't shut up about it. I'm sure the 911's are absolutely fantastic to drive, but eCOTY a little meh to be honest. why don't they just do a 911 of the year (there's enough of them) and then do a test with all the other cars?

That said, i'll buy it anyway when it comes out, it's always a well constructed article (even if the result is a foregone conclusion).

The McLaren, they say it should have won but a range of niggles made them feel like it was not the finished article

What I find most interesting is that the Aventador did not even make the top five yikes

Did any "normal" cars make it into the top 10 / final shootout? It's always good to hear of a Clio/Megane nipping at the heels of the supercars.

Porsche may have won a lot of ECOTY's but they don't win all of them. Only won one of the last three.

ETA Err, just realised that they have now won two of the last three paperbag

Is it possible that the Porsche really is the best car?
Can't think of many other cars to come out recently that probably have that level of driver involvement.

and 997.2 GT3 only lost to the evora because every magazine had a hard-on for it at the time.

Does anyone actually do this, a "Attainable Performance Car of the Year" type thing. Maybe with a £30k price cap?

I love reading about super and hyper cars, but I suspect for most that's as far as it goes. We'll never have the funds to own one.

Its not that I'm overly fussed about Clio's, but there must be a happy middle ground that could cater for performance cars on a more modest budget, including hot hatches, sports cars (MX-5 and what was MR2/S2k), Rally reps (well WRX) and anything else that can be had new for under £30k.
