Hi all. The wifes car needs 2 back tyres, but the size is odd (215/45/18) and that's making it really expensive.

Local garage says I can put a more common size on (225/40/18) and therefore have more choice and make it cheaper.

Is that right?? Is that the size you would replace them with?

Cheers for any help

Quite a lot of cars have different tyres on the back but they'll have staggered alloys too.
The tyre they're suggesting will only add about 4cm to rolling tyre.
I'd say do it, as long as you're not putting ditch finders on.
