This may seem like a strange question but the most amout of cash I have ever held is £8k, that was to buy a car.

Assuming you are a millionaire. biggrin
How do you go about buying a 400k car, obviously you dont use cash, do you phone up your bank when you have decided on the car you want and just do a bank transfer, or do you use cheques?
Would you have to arrange this large transfer with your bank beforehand?

The reason I ask is I plan on winning the lottery tonight and dont want to look like a Noob at the Bugatti dealership biggrin

Same here. Was going to use my credit card but got told they charge a 'handling fee' of some kind so paid with my debit card instead.

Western Union money transfer. What could possibly go wrong?

A banker's draft, perhaps? Either than or an American Express Centurion, I reckon.

Saying that, I imagine quite a few are bought on finance. wink

Carrier bags stuffed with cash is how I plan to do it. I will be wearing some old beach shorts and flip-flops too.

Not advisable, as you will be reported for money laundering by the dealer.

So what, a quick confirmation of your lottery win will clear that up.

I'm sure Gulzar mentioned in a post about his Lambo that once he'd seen the car and sat in it he "threw his debit card to the salesman", that seems pretty cool biggrin

So you're not allowed to buy things with cash now?

Switch. but expect the bank to phone the dealership, unless you do this often.
