Long story short, a friend has an exhaust he removed from someone he knows' car. And has offered to fit it to mine.
His own car produces a fairly nice sound for a 1.2, and i told him so, and i think i may have mentioned that i wouldnt mind my car being a little louder.
Anyway, i cant imagine this exhaust having come off anything with lager than a 1.4 so, will it work?
I believe its only a backbox, if i can fit it without bending stuff, will it damage my engine/ lose power?
Usually i would be rather against making a standard family car loud, but, if im honest, i really fancy something a little louder, because Ford have done such a good job of soundproofing that you cant hear it at idle, i dont like that.
If its super loud, it certainly wont happen.
Anyway, this probably made no sense, but thanks anyway.. smile

If the bore size matches I should think it would fit.

At the very least take it to a half decent custom exhaust place so they can fit it and hang it so it looks okay rather than thrown on and rather chavvy.

I dont think your following. This is free, and i can easily change it back to standard when it comes to selling.
All i really want to know is will there be a loss of power or engine damage?
A year ago, i would have never considered driving a loud family car, but my view now is fk 'em. Itll make driving more fun.
I do intend to change my car, but not for another couple months, and yes, it will be louder!

Because it's only a backbox. If you want it on, put it on. If not, don't bother. Do you need us to tell you what to wear in the morning?

It won't make an ounce of difference, except it will make your Focus sound st.

If its louder then its probably less restrictive then standard and no you wont damage anything other then your reputation. wink

Loss of power = no chance. Most family cars will have a restrictive exhaust. Don't expect a noticeable difference though.

Engine damage = zero chance.

Being the top mechanic i am, by bore size you mean cylinder bore? Is there a site that will tell me the cylinder bore of every car on the market? I dont know what it came off as of yet, but will find out later, as he is coming around whether i fit it or not.
If the bore size is different, whats the worst that can happen?

I rather think he means the diameter of the exhaust pipe.

Loud exhausts on shopping cars (no offence) is such a bad look mate and it really isn't cool. Especially when you gun it, make a crap load of noise and absolutely no progress!

All you'll do is make people laugh.

Stick with stock.

Spot on. I always turn around when I hear a loud exhaust note and 90% of the time it leads to a small laugh and me thinking 'what a knob' when I see them in a Focus or Civic.
