This is the first time I have had a diesel. It is a commuter stter, but new and economical.

I know it has a lower torque range than petrol and have kept it to mpg to let me try and work that out. I now have a lot further to go, so could be good to try to keep as much muller as possible and not spend my wage increase on the black stuff.

I can keep it smooth, but where can I find the right torque ranges for each gear online? Or is it a standard of 10-20 on the rev meter maybe?

Just use as low as revs as possible, I'm assuming its turbo'd? keep it below 2-2.5k for super eco ness.

According to the computer it is most economical when it is chugging along, which feels very wrong. Is this normal for diesels?

Mine is doing 2000rpm at 70mph, and gives me 50mpg plus cruising at this speed. If you stick to 2000rpm in each gear you probably wont go far wrong as far as economy is concerned.
