Should I be worried?
Discussion
Hello all,
I was driving home today and the car behind was driving close behind me obviously wanting to get past. I was sticking strictly to the 30 limit as I new there was a speed camera about 100 feet away where the road splits into a dual carriageway (one bus lane and another for cars) I stayed in the outside lane to avoid going into to bus lane but the person behind accelerated past me up the inside undertaking me but in doing so set off the speed camera. Think he set it off while accelerating still in the outside lane behind me then the camera flashed as he was moving lanes to come past me.
Is there any chance I could get a ticket?
I know this might sound stupid but I'm 18 and I've only been driving 9 months so any points on my lisence would be a real worry.
Thanks,
Tom

If it's a gatso type, you have no chance of being caught. These take two pictures and measure the distance travelled over a set time, so unless the laws of physics change, you're ok. Comfort yourself in the knowledge that the guy that overtook you is probably thinking he's got away with it!

I had exactly this a while ago, posted a topic on here and general consensus was nothing would happen.I was driving home today and the car behind was driving close behind me obviously wanting to get past. And it didn't

If its a gatso the white lines painted on the road measure and identify the offending vehicle. For example if you're in a 30mph zone and each line measures 5mph then if you pass 6 lines between the first flash and the 2nd flash then they will know you were doing 30mph. However if the offending vehicle that was passing you has passed 8 lines between the 2 flashes then they will know he was the one doing 40mph and triggered the camera.
