About the way technology masks your manhood?

Just been watching the Ford Focus ad. The guy seems happy that the car watches for low speed hazards and parks itself into reverse bays.

Personally, I am embarrassed when I rely on parking sensors or traction control. I love being able to boot my FWD 180hp car out of roundabouts with absolutely no chance of it going wrong.

I also love the fact that I can stamp on the brakes with impunity, whatever the conditions, and the car will basically stop regardless.

I'm glad I have a bike to remind me just how slippery it gets out there.

Anyone else feel a bit emasculated by their technology?

I don't have rotating ball bearings or vibrating ears so yes, I do feel a bit inadequate.

Oh sorry, wrong emasculation thread...

Shouldn't you be running around barefoot instead of using a car if you're so insecure?rolleyes

Some small consolation for the nice unassisted brakes not coming with the engine I wanted. frown

driving aids and power steering, ABS and airbags all add unnecessary weight in a drivers car as far as i'm concerned.

no self respecting man would press that light steering wheel button unless they are completely fag handed.

The number of people who actually want to drive a car with no reliance on technology is very very low, and will get attacked by all the morons who think switching traction control off will end the world!

Useful assistance from technology is different to total reliance on it. I like useful assistance like ABS, traction control (if required), a heated screen, air conditioning, cruise control, sat nav etc but do i need the car to read road signs for me? No. If you need a road sign reading car you shouldnt be driving.

You shouldnt have to be interested in something to be expected to do it properly. You dont need to be an uber keen petrol head with touring car experience to be expected to read a road sign or look out of the cabin at things at 15mph.

However i do think radar guided autopark should be standard as British people clearly cant park and if they fail to use their radar guided autopark and get it wrong then a massive pendulum should swing down from the top of the car park and send them flying through the air to land in the ocean.

might as well get a thrusting machine to help you with your vinegar strokes, or use some kind of bed restrainer in case you fall out in the throws of passion, or maybe a pair spunk deflectors to wear just in case... none of which will add to the enjoyment but i'm sure will make things safer and more efficient.

What on earth is a spunk deflector?

And why would you need them in a pair?!

please sir, have some imagination! surely i need not explain.. Driving cars is like making love to a beautiful woman...

Jokes aside, i can understand wanting them on a nice luxury comfort daily with an auto box, but all the newer "hot hatches" are somewhat dulled down with all this new technology and safety equipment.

My experience level varies greatly between the two but I struggle to see the comparison. That probably means something and whatever it is its probably not good.

However you have opened up a treasure chest of possibilities for wordplay here. Pushing the red start button etc

He should have said - pair of spunk deflectors - meaning a pair of spectacles.
