Thinking about buying an in-car camera - not for uploading videos of stupid driving to YouTube but for leaving running when my car is parked up.

Does anyone have any recommendations of cameras that have very low power consumption and can therefore safely do this without killing the battery?

Somebody on a thread yesterday got pulled over for allegedy careless or dangerous driving. He had one of these cameras fitted which the police confiscated to use as evidence against him.

Beware.

As I said - i'm more interested in being able to record acts of vandalism/theft when the car is parked.

There's a static camera that's motion activated. I've seen them on eBay.

You could always go for something more stealth...

In car cameras can be useful...

...the Police and Fire Service wanted a copy of this video because the cause of the collision isn't as clear cut as it first appears.

Thanks. It was filmed on my old Sony Satio with a £2.99 eBay holder. wink

Because the slip road is too short the van braking to avoid the black Corsa that cuts across looks as if he's slowing to turn left. Before the driver of the other car realises he isn't it's too late. She should have really stopped and looked twice but the layout gives priority to cars turning right into junction over cars turning left and she went for it.

The car driver was to blame but the (piss poor) road layout and black car cutting the van up first were major contributing factors.

Will those be able to run when the car is parked without killing the battery overnight?

Would a CCTV camera work?

I think they will detect movement and save so long before and after. Both have good web sites.
