Hi all on PH!
I've been a lurker on here for ages, enjoyed reading the banter and erm useful info... but thought it was about time I contributed!
I've made a few posts already, hopefully they make some sense!
A good start would be my motoring history...
First car was a Peugeot 306 1.8xs. It fell to bits but wasn't a bad motor when I bought it! It looked exactly like a GTI-6, went like a shopping car.
Then I moved on to my first "real" car. A BMW Z4 3.0i, with all the toys. It was a lovely car!! That straight 6... Mmmm...
Then I got bored of only having two seats, found myself doing more miles than I'd have liked... so I traded it for a BMW 320d M-Sport. To keep a bit of a grin on my face, it's been remapped, exhaust, etc.
Anyway... I'm just waiting for someone to tell me to p
s off!!

Bet it eats Veyrons for breakfast.if you really have been lurking on here for ages you should know a remapped Beemer is the fastest car in the world, fact.

OP, can I pick your brains? I was thinking of getting a Z4 3.0 and I wondered what they were like on a long trip (150-200 miles or so). Reasonable at long distances or back-breakingly uncomfortable?
I fancy a 2 seater RWD thing but I need to take weekly round trips of about 300 miles. I'd appreciate your opinion.

I've taken my BMW Z4 M Roadster down to Cornwall before. 200 miles (each way), non stop. It was fine. I didn't feel any more worn down that I would have been if I was in the Octavia. I have the M seats and suspension which are both very firm, but I find it very comfortable for long journeys. I'd have no problem doing long journeys in it regularly. That's a spookily brilliant comparison- I'm currently in an Octavia vRS! Thanks for the reply... I'll stick with my "coupé savings account" then!

Last year I took the Z4 down to Devon with my girlfriend and her (little) dog, 220 miles each way. The car was fully loaded with a weeks worth of luggage, to the point where we almost couldn't close the boot! There's a decent boot on the Z4 too by the way.
I managed the round trip on a single tank, driving with a light right foot at approx 75mph on the m'way. I calculated that I average 37.5mpg!! Which isn't at all bad.
As Dan says, the ride is fairly hard, but not jarring, it's comfortable, smooth and so easy to drive. Overall, for a sports car it's a good cruiser.
It's a great car and I do miss it...

Hello! Of course you can, I was about to give a similar story as Dans actually.

Yep, although I could never see over 26mpg from the M engine! Ha ha! Oh well. It's an expensive trip down to Cornwall. The boot is certainly huge on the Z. Much bigger than the SLK 55 AMG I was going to buy. Last year I took the Z4 down to Devon with my girlfriend and her (little) dog, 220 miles each way.
