Time for tea? The Veyron-chasing Mk2 Golf
A truly bizarre drag-strip spectacle...
So. How do you make a Mk2 Golf as fast as a Bugatti Veyron?
The answer, it seems, is to take it to a German tunng firm called Boba, allow them to slap in a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and proper drag-strip gearbox, and give them an engine that started life as a 1.8-litre diesel four.
The result is a Golf that, on E85 bioethanol fuel, will give 900hp, sprint to 62mph in 2.7secs and run 9.3sec quarters at almost 160mph.
So sit back and enjoy the video (which we've conveniently saved at the start of the first run for you to minimise your exposure to the God-awful backing track). We particularly like the way it squats under the fresh burst of acceleration after each gearchange.

FYI the Astra in the video has been transplanted with a mapped 335d engine.
It still got d*****d on
When I watched the clip, I assumed it was the Golf drivers' mate filming, hence the wee headstart. I would actually go to Santa Pod again, if that runs at any shows next season. Awesome car, even better for the stealthy looks. It still got d*****d on

I particularly like the fact that they seem to have kept the original steel wheels. Shame the bonnet is black, but I suppose that's probably necessary for cooling?
They look like audi A2 pepperpots, if you pause it the car has been converted to 5x100 (due to the mk4 haldex?).as for the diesel connection, possibly a diesel bottom end used for strength?
