1st of all sorry this is in the wrong section but as I'm a new user I can't post in the correct area.
My untaxed car was park on what I thought was private land so I thought it was ok to leave it there. I received a letter today saying it had been towed away. The letter was a letter I had to sign for but it's taken 14 days for the letter to arrive on my doorstep. Not only do I have to pay the £150 tow away few but an extra £20 per day it's been in storage which is up to £280 now. Surely the letter has taken to long to arrive. If I knew about this straight away I would have collected it and I wouldn't have to pay the £280.
Any advice on the excessive storage charges or any other advice would be great.
Cheers

Firstly it is a legal requirement to have your car taxed or sorned. Even if you have it in your garage on your own land it has to be sorned.
So that's a bit pf an issue possibly.
Secondly you say private land? Yours ? Or someone elses? If someone else's did you get permission to park your car on it? If not I cannot see an issue with the owner getting it towed away - if someone parked up on my drive without permission I would be livid and frankly call the police to get the car removed.
Thirdly the time it's taken for you to get the letter ad all the charges. Didn't you notice the car had vanished? (or were you away on holiday)?
