Range rover cosworth?!

In town at lunch today at heard a roar of something exciting coming, to my dismay all I saw was a blingy imperial blue range rover sport that once past the traffic lights disapeared like a scolded cat.
Before it took off at warp factor 9 I just made out the shiny halfords cosworth badge on the rear.
I have to say it sounded fantastic, but looked very footballer ish.
A little digging reveals its a kahn project
Have cosworth actually improoved much or is it just there for the name?
