Having read many 'what car' threads, the same cars pop up time and time again in reply, so I thought I'd take a bash at producing a list of the most recommended cars. Obviously it depends massively on what the original poster was looking for but in general...

Add/edit/comment/remove as necessary.

1. Mazda MX5
2. BMW 330d/335d
3. Lotus Elise
4. BMW E36 328
5. Vauxhall Monaro
6. Impreza WRX/Turbo
7. Porsche 911 (993/997)
8. MR2 Turbo
9. TVR Chimaera
10. Civic Type R

I would have put the Boxster/Cayman above the 911s.

Probably the Integra above the Civic, too

I thought PHers all hated the 330d/335d?! laughlaughbangheadshoot

Here's an odd thing - Evo's Knowledge lists the 330d (and 320d) but NOT the 335d. The 330d has electric steering (335d and 335i are fully hydraulic and much weightier) and is most definitely slower.

Mind you Evo HATES diesels so who knows?!

But then if we remove all the cars in the list which have attracted CHAV comments you are left with:

1) Lotus Elise
2) TVR Chimeara
3) Holden Monaro

I've yet to see someone on here not love the Lotus Carlton.

The power lovers love it
The "I like sleepers brigade" love it.
The "non-pc brigade" love it.
The 4 door lovers love it.

Everyone loves it......add it to your list.

How did I forget the Clio 172/182?!

I think it needs to be a top 20.

Has the MR2 really been accused of being "chav"?
