PH posse,

Have seen a 57 plate (Nov 2007) TDI V10 Touraeg Altitude for sale, that I fancy. It's only clocked up 18,000 miles and is FSH at VW.

Vehicle in question: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/used/search/#width@926...

I would get extended warranty in addition to the year included in sale for peace of mind.

Financial suicide or 'fk it - you're only old once?' Been there and done it with a FFRR, thought this may be a tad different.

  • *Important note - I get free DERV......
Opinions appreciated - I don't use it on a school run (no kids) and I do a lot of towing and use fairly crap farm tracks etc... oh - and I like them!

Flame suit is secureley fastened......

Depreciation is clearly a factor.

But if you don't pay for the devil's fuel... it's a mahoosive great V10. What's not to like?

I have a V6 3.0 TDI Touareg - with a Bluefin upgrade. It's a big car and quite alarming when travelling quickly.

The 5.0 is mad - It's a bizarre experience driving such a huge car at the pace that it can manage - driven the V10 and it really is like nothing else - maybe a Dodge Ram or something (never driven one mind) - but if you have the cash, and clearly fuel prices aren't a problem for you, at least try it.

Hmmmm....

3 out of 3 of your replies are positive! Agreed - what's not to like. Have done a brief search on them and folk get all flustered with turbo's going and big engine repair bills.

I'm pretty 'soft' in my driving, so I thought it's be a solid buy. Never seen so many 'toys' in the cabin either!

I feel a trigger being pulled. Cheers.

edited to add: 4 out of 4!!

Elaborate? Servicing?

Tyres = free
Fuel = free

Low miles (I cover 8-10k per year)

Where are the 'supercar costs'? Cheers.

Servicing the V10 is exactly the same cost as servicing a V6....things breaking are rare (esp. on an 18k mile 57 plate), and the OP has free fuel.

They don't eat tyres either.

Do you know anything about them - or are you just guessing?

Cheers Paddy.

Free tyres and Derv - benefit of operating a haulage firm. Out trucks suck in 200-250 litres of fuel a day, x 20.

If I have a slurp of approx 100 litres a week/fortnight out of our 30,000 litre tank, it doesn't even notice.

There's way to many positives at the moment! I know it's my money/choice etc... but I'm a great respecter of PH opinions.

They sound like some kind of turbine engined thing too - immense!

They are a lot heavier than the petrol V8 (200kgs more I think?) but who cares?!
