Am I going mad
Discussion
Hello...
Right I usually read rather than post but I have a dilema. I have just finished restoring my much loved 205 gti. It has a decent spec and boasts a nice dyno proven 142bhp. It has just had a lot of rust cut out and the body repaired and a full respray.
I am now so paranoid about it I hardly use it, constantly checking weather forecasts etc.... even though I have booked a trackday in January.

I have spent huge sums of money and love bringing the 205 up to the standard it is today though it basically is now a huge minichamps model. I got the car back from paint in June and it has done a total of 400 miles since then.
I also run an Alfa 156 sportswagon that is getting to that Alfa age of about 10 years old where dash lights are starting to come on yet nothing is wrong etc.
I have a desire to sell the 205 and get an 850R and pretend to be Jan Lammers whilst driving to the local DH track to rag my bike around. Am I losing my mind and will I instantly regret selling the 205 as its sure to be a classic.
Help!

I think the problem is I have recently graduated sacrificed so much from my low graduate wages and I am just scared to use it... sad I know.
I also have an issue where if I take it out it has to go back in the heated garage clean. I miss my s2 rallye which got flilthy and looked cool dirty.

I think you should just use it more and f
k the consequences - if you've done a lot of work on it, especially anti rust - then it should be able to handle being used and after all it is an awesome car to use.
otherwise, if you want to seal it up and not breathe on it then sell it and let someone else have a go. These cars deserve to be driven regularly.

SORN it, stick it in a friends garage and buy something cheap and cheerful (rusty old mx5 seems a good choice) and when you feel in a better place financially get it back on the road and start enjoying it.
The car isn't the problem, it's your worry about a big bill or losing too much of the money you have already put into it. Some time away from it and time to forget some of the bills will make you appreciate it more. After this much financial and emotional investment don't sell it.

I am thinking you are right with this. I have had a good few offers for quite a bit of money for it is all. I guess though it will be worth a few quid one day though so hy not keep hold of it. I shall see. I do still want an 850 R though.
