I am moving in with my GF next month, currently I live in Edinburgh and we are moving to a small village in Fife.

I have contacted both Car and Motorbike insurance companies to change my details.

Motorbike insurance with Bennett’s - spoke to a nice woman and went through the process, she gleefully said my policy has decreased.... fab I said, change me over, she then pointed our there is an admin charge which means I have to pay a net of £20, now my insurance actually runs out on the 18th of December therefore an additional £20 for 2 weeks grates a little.

Car insurance with Admiral - there is also a charge!!! not an admin fee but they say I now live in a more dangerous area, how on earth can a small village be more dangerous than Edinburgh (ok bar the increased amount of tractors around, but still)

Ok the charges are not hundreds of pounds just feel it’s not justified and it's another way to rinse us of cash.

dont get me started on moving my Virgen Media account across either!!!!

My previous insurer who do not appear on any comparison websites once tried to charge me £250 for daring to move 2.3 miles up the road (I actually went away and checked the distance because I couldn't believe it)

Only when I started to lose it a bit did they finally concede an "admin error" and removed all the charges. This was the final nail in a whole coffins worth of "admin errors" that had led to many lost hours, cancelled policies and thousands of pounds down the toilet so I asked them to go forth and multiply and swallowed the loss of some NBC.

I have lists of that sort of thing at work that I make when I'm on the phone to boring clients. That's where it came from originally...

I'm not really sure why.

Ah the Kingdom of Fife (does anywhere in the UK sound more magical?) - but sadly there are some real toilets there too.

When a mate moved from a 'slightly dodgy' part of Edinburgh (car on road) to a nice (yes there are nice) part of Dunfermline (car garaged) his insurance almost doubled...

Hey ho - you have to cross 'the bridge with the best view of the world's most amazing bridge' a lot - that's the upside.
