The picture below is from part of the transmission on a Volvo XC70 that I'm repairing.

I have an idea what date this is meant to indicate, but I'd still like a second opinion.

The date is important as parts were revised/improved after a certain year.

So, how would you interpret this:

I agree. It looks like they add a dot for each new month of production. So just look at the last dot. The months accross the top, year along the left hand side. Feb 2006 (Mar 2006 if they do this at the end of the month, but for me it seems more likely they will add a dot at the start of the month)

That's what I was thinking too, but someone else who looked at it managed to plant a seed of doubt in my mind.

FWIW 2006= good news in this case biggrin

He's working from the wrong end wink
