....do people think the GTV is similarly afflicted
Just bought an immaculate 2004 GTV V6, FSH, new cambelt, new tyres, refurbed alloys, 12 months MOT for a shade over 3k - whilst far from the cheapest available it still strikes me as being incredibly good value for money for what i cosider to still be a quickish and stylish car
GTV's do not have any real issues with corrosion (no more so than any other car) and with the Busso V6 they make the right kind of noises
Surely they can't get much cheaper

Hi
I suspect that they will get cheaper. Plenty of the 2L version around (and from a couple of sources, some odd parts are now difficult to source even on such a relatively modern car). As with most cars I would expect them to sit in cheap shed territory for a few years before they start to appreciate.
As with any car though, changes to fuel costs or fiddles with VED could have a major impact on the value.
All the best

Hi
I appreciate that, but if fuel prices or VED go up dramatically then the prospective pool of purchasers will drop and prices will drop even if you are still happy with the cost to you.
There is also the potential cost of an repairs compared to the value. A cam belt change and full service is a significant amount compared to the value of the car which will put people off.
Keep up with it all and take care and in a decade or so it might be an appreciating asset. They are a car that appeals to me. Done a few miles in a 2L one and loved it. Just with the 3L for the miles I travel I couldn't justify the fuel and we already have a toy car.
All the best

don't they need plenty of TLC though ? Suspension bits ?
Front arms are a common but cheap issue with any of the Fiat Tipo based cars (including the GTV). Think the 2L has the potential for a very expensive bill on the rear suspension if you leave the bushes too long (rubber bush wears out and the steel sleeve in the middle then damages the subframe) but the 3L doesn't use rubber bushes and avoids this problem. All the best
