Old Fords used to have the bonnet release on the underside of the steering column.

With newer Fords you tend to flip the badge on the grille to one side and open the bonnet using the key.

Failing that, its right at the bottom of the dash/on the floor, in front of the fuel door release.

My 2007 Ka has the bonnet release on the bottom of the steering column. Big red handle which is very easy to miss...

You will need too either pump the fuel up by hand or sit turning it over until the fuel reaches the engine.

Do you mean it cranks (on starter), and won't fire. Or will it not crank? (I assume the former, but it would be good to be clear)

I don't know how having sex in it will help either.

Guy I know had that, turned out the 'plugs needed changing.

Can you here the fuel pump tick? Probably in the boot.

It's a simple strategy, if it starts after rocking it then it's because you've helped the fuel get through from the gallon you've put in. If it doesn't start, the physical effort required to have rocked it from side to side for 5 minutes stops you from beating the living fk out of it with a branch/hammer/other suitable instrument

You do know that the principle of fuel reaching the engine isn't done by a rocking motion don't you? There is something called a fuel pump for that sort of thing.

I could understand it if you'd said tap the fuel pump.........

Sounds like she's flattened the battery trying to start it with no fuel.

Thanks guys it was a flat battery in the end, had to push start it. Finally found the bonnet release it was under the steering wheel but the catch is broken. Think its time i started carrying a few tools in the car with me now for any future breakdowns.
