PH - related charity events that you know of
Discussion
I'm not after collecting money or anything, so don't be scared!
I was wondering what charity-and petrolhead events anyone's been to, or been involved with. Maybe they could do with the press.
I once went on a biker event to raise money for the local paediatric ward. A multi-stop rideout with charity buckets and a "do" when we got to the end. Raised about 900 quid. (Retford/Worksop Longriders, are you still about?)
Also, I went to see the "sei ruote di speranza - 6 wheels of hope" ( www.6rds.it ) when I lived in Milan, just as a spectator, but it was a hell of a day out wandering round the pits and garages. A hundred plus supercar owners (and I mean F40, Zonda R, Gumpert Apollo league supercars, plus a load of other Ferraris, Porsches, etc as well) giving disabled people passenger rides round Monza. Hell of a day out!
I'm also aware of the kindness PH has show to it's own (the Toylander thread a particular memory).
Not sure of the point of the thread exactly, and I hope someone saying "Oh, such-and-such an event is always a good laugh and raises money for a good cause" isn't against PH rules, but might be an interesting discussion.

Dads day out (as it was known) is a great event. Takes place at the Top Gear test track, get to ride in supercars and ride in Caterhams around a special autotest. There are also helecoter rides and a club car show. I went as a guest last year, volunteered this year and will volunteer next year.
