6 month insurance policies or similar?

does anywhere do a limited 6 month policy or will limited miles be the best way to go?

I get 90 days (28 at a time) in the Uk and car hire for a month is about 500 quid for something pants. i figure i can buy a decent shed with MOT and tax, then sell it after i use my 90 days, say 6 months later.

I could insure for a year then cancel i suppose.
